    December 2007

Is it me, or has Jack Frost descended on our doorsteps a little early this year? As the heating turns up and the fires are stoked it seems we all need a little something extra to warm our cockles this November. The latest copy of Dinghy is just what the Doctor ordered for keeping those seasonal illnesses away. What better than a good dose of our Tactics Special to warm the heart stones and ward off those pesky flu germs. In this issue Grahame Forshaw shares with us his golden rules for success on the racecourse and suggests ways to suss out the shifts and tackle the tides. Then if you’re still feeling chilly why not check out our feature on Paul Goodison. Find out what our top Laser sailor has been up to since being announced as one of the selected sailors going to Beijing next year in our Campaign Update. By this point you should be rosy cheeked and nice and toasty, but if you’re still needing something more to fill you with warmth why not try our Cat debate: In or out? This month’s Cat Scene looks at the recent RYA submissions to ISAF regarding multihulls, the backlash, and the latest developments in the controversy. I’m feeling warmer already.

As if all that wasn’t enough, we’ve also squeezed in a preview of the new Earl’s Court Boat Show and taken a look at what was sparking interest at this year’s Weymouth Speed Week. With all this, plus all the usual news, views, advice and techniques you’d better make sure you don’t spontaneously combust!

This month we’ve also thrown in a little something extra to excite and entice you, with our Practical Projects supplement. As every sailor knows, practical maintenance, tweaks and repairs are all par for the course when you become a dinghy owner. To make these repairs a little easier we’ve put together a quick and easy reference guide containing all the important information for keeping your boat in shipshape.
